Jack Nichols’ career in civil trial law has been devoted to representing people who have been damaged, injured or killed as a result of the negligence of others; however, he has also excelled in activities outside the practice of law and many of those organizations gave him special recognition for the commitment he made to excellence in those activities he undertook without compensation.

- Entered U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1958
- Graduated from Infantry Officer Leadership Training in Fort Benning, Georgia
- Graduated from Army Aviation Flight School in Camp Gary, Texas
- Graduated from Instrument Flight Training in Fort Rucker, Alabama
- Served three years as an Army Aviator in Baumholder, Germany
- Promoted to Captain in U.S. Army
- Served as a Brigade Adjutant in Fort Knox, Kentucky
- Awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon for service as a Brigade Adjutant
- Graduated from Army Helicopter School at Fort Rucker, Alabama
- Promoted to Major in the U.S. Army Reserve
- Served on the General Staff of the 143rd Transportation Brigade (Reserves) as the G3
- Received a Certified Flight Instructor’s License from the FAA
